Welcome scholars and families!
I am thrilled to be continuing this year with all of you as your 11th and 12th grade English teacher! I joined the Baxter team in 2017 and had the privilege of watching our young Krakens grow to be strong readers, critical thinkers and innovative writers who have come back to share their college adventures and experiences. My goal as an educator is not just teaching students to read and write. I want to my scholars to be able to think critically about the world around them, to question the status quo, to be change makers, and to stand up to injustice. I also want to instill in them life-long habits of success to help them thrive in college and in their professional endeavors. These goals have always been at the forefront of my teaching philosophy and I am excited to start this work with all of you!
On a personal level, I am mother to a beautiful son who is now in 1st grade and a wife to a wonderful husband. I am a huge Disney fan and prior to the parks closing would frequent Disneyland with my family at least once a week. We are sad to have lost that part of our lives during this Covid pandemic - my son misses it most of all! I also love all movies and TV shows from the 90's and can often been seen watching reruns of Friends on Nick and Nite.
